I have been slacking way too much on my reading mostly because of the wedding planning. So my list is getting longer than I'd like. Now would be a good time to update you on my next reads.

Yesterday I received my next book to review for Flamingnet: Lenobia's Vow by P.C. Cast.  Although I haven't read any of the House of Night series, I'm excited to read this novella for two reasons.

1. Because I haven't read the series, I want to see if I'll like the style and story before I start something I won't finish.

2. Most importantly, look at the cover! I love it!

There are not many books or let alone series that get me anxious like a thirteen year old girl. The Maze Runner Trilogy did just that, even though I was a little less than impressed with all of the Death Cure. But today my heart skipped a beat and my insides were filled with bubbly joy! :)

As I was scouring new releases on Amazon and adding a few books to my cart for my next order from Baker & Taylor, I saw "The Kill Order" and before seeing who wrote it, I knew Dashner wouldn't let his fans down. In a prequel to the Trilogy, Dashner brings all of us Gladers with how it all started.



Despite my not-so-happy attitude with Dashner for the ending of the closing to the trilogy, I have to admit that I am actually excited for a bit more of the story! My only concern is that knowing what happens, I won't be surprised with anything he creates. That is my usual disappointment with prequels. But I'm keeping an open mind and anxiously awaiting August 14, 2012.

What about you, do you think Dashner will redeem himself?

I've been contemplating whether or not I would be going through with this idea. I decided to give it a shot and see how well it goes. Now that I am doing almost all of the YA collection ordering and processing, I figured it would be good to let you know what was "just added" to the collection. Enjoy!

I blog before you now with my head hung low in disappointment. I have been raving over reading the Death Cure by James Dashner for what, a month now??? I finally downloaded it and read it in two days (man, did I have time on my hands yesterday)! I needed to review it quickly before I changed my perspective. All last night and this morning I have been unsure of how I felt about what I read. So here it is:

Thomas knows that Wicked can't be trusted, but they say the time for lies is over, that they've collected all they can from the Trials and now must rely on the Gladers, with full memories restored, to help them with their ultimate mission. It's up to the Gladers to complete the blueprint for the cure to the Flare with a final voluntary test.

What Wicked doesn't know is that something's happened that no Trial or Variable could have foreseen. Thomas has remembered far more than they think. And he knows that he can't believe a word of what Wicked says.

My Thoughts:

First, I would like to say that the summary is misleading. Yes, Thomas does remember a bit more than Wicked thinks, but its mostly in rare dreams.
I felt let down with this closing to the trilogy. The book was good, don't misunderstand me on that, but really?! James, dear James, how could you give the ending such .... hope! This dark trilogy is over and suddenly (seriously, the last few pages) you introduce an area untouched by the Flare??? (Could there be a continuum of the trilogy? I sure hope so!)
Now, that I have expressed my disappointment, I do have some positive comments about the best parts. Gladers finding out that most are immune to the Flare (poor Newt becomes a Crank), the action packed scenes (let me tell ya, they were intense!), and the return to the Maze? Dashner did a wonderful job in quite a few areas.
Overall, I was disappointed, but impressed. Is that possible?
Basically, if you enjoyed the first two, you will enjoy this as well. Just be prepared for some (good and not so good) twists.


Hmm...I need to figure out what else to read.
